In 1963, the District Lodge under took an enormous project to raise money for the Daughters of Penelope District Scholarship Fund. This was the beginning of “Penelopian Culinary Favorites” cookbook. This collection of “favorite” Greek and non-Greek recipes from the members of our organization benefit our scholarship fund. The cookbook has also become a treasure of recipes handed down from grandmother to mother and to daughter.

In preparing this book, many secret recipes were revealed, some that required translation and adaption to our present day measurements. Comprehensive instructions were written enabling the American-born Hellene, young bride or even those not familiar with typically Greek recipes to prepare the traditional and delicious dishes of Greece easily.

For more than forty years, our district has sold the “Penelopian Culinary Favorites” continuing to provide a source of income for the Daughters of Penelope Scholarship Fund.
